Unfortunately, I think I’m going to have to retire the Netflix-1080p extension. It had a great run, it really did. But, this is just a big game of cat-and-mouse between Netflix and I. Every time I find a new way to force 1080p, the publicity of the extension notifies Netflix and it just gets patched. The extension even got taken down from the Chrome Webstore! I tried asking Google why, but they only respond with cryptic answers like “the extension must not be falsely advertising function.” It’s doing what its supposed to, albeit not on every video because of Netflix’s games. It’s too bad that I have to retire my first major project, which also happens to be my most famous project. Netflix-1080p had a peak of over 130,000 users. That’s insane! But, I can’t support it anymore. It was fun while it lasted. We retire projects so that we can make new ones, and I’m sure I’ll make bigger and better things, but for now, goodbye Netflix-1080p.
